This blog started as a way of clearing room in my head for new thoughts. I found that alongside trying to make a living, love and cherish my twin boys without shouting at them every couple of hours, and trying to not feel down when thinking about my professional ambitions and how they are not likely to ever become a reality.
I also realised there was such passion in my voice when talking to people about my country (Bolivia), it’s people, it’s landscapes, its secrets, the unfairness of people putting people into boxes because of their background, skin colour, education and gender.
I have stories to tell, and there are so many subjects i would have loved to explore in conversation with other people, but i find it very very hard to find people interested in having this kinds of conversations (also, i imagine may come off as a bit intense..) So this is me, talking to myself basically, getting things out of my head.. I sound very self absorbed (!) I really would love to not be having a monologue though.. really!
I hope to share stories about inspiring people, sometimes sad stories, but still inspiring i hope. It is also about me, being a mum, and about the things that i hope will shape my children’s world. I am an environmentalist and my passion lies in biodiversity conservation, which includes people and their cultural diversity. I hope to find more time to blog and write a bit about this subject before my memory gives up on all the stories i collected during field trips in remote areas of South America. I also hope to make time to create pictures or visual stuff to support my stories.. Will I manage?
The bit that follows is what i originally wrote to explain the blog, i left it here because it reminds me of the beginning. Once i read a blogger state that changing a post is dishonest, your posts give a picture of who you where and how you thought at a certain point in your life, i agree with him/her.
I have started a blog about women that have inspired me and that have had an impact on the way I see the world and the way I think things should be.. I’ll try to write it in both Spanish and English, hope you find it interesting and please feel free to give me feed back or leave a comment, if you wish to..
LATIN-AMERICAN WOMEN WEAR EARRINGS
Stories about Women, Cultural Identity and Self-Expression
Stories of beautiful Latin-American women that have inspired me and that I carry in my heart. . Some of them are/were public figures -in some cases almost mythological-, others are friends, family and beautiful women I came across during my wanderings through the world.. I wish to learn where they come/came from and how their paths were formed. During my inquiries I will try to confirm if my favorite Latin-American women usually wear/wore earrings, but mainly I wish to find out who they were, what events marked their lives, where they came from and the impact their acts had on myself and other people..
